Performers – Brandy Leary and Hans Wolfgramm
in collaboration with Phillip Zarrilli/ Kaite O’Reilly (The Llanarth Group)
A performance inspired by stories and characters in the Mahabharata, exploring the affective terrain of mourning and pathos. The choreography is developed from the rich and evocative movement vocabulary of kalaripayattu—Kerala, India’s martial art. It is set within an immersive installation environment created to access and bring into performance the subtler modes of sensory awareness available within this tradition, thereby enhancing an audience’s experience of mourning and pathos.
