Everyone is welcome at this Circus Skills Fundraiser and taster session run by Déa Neile-Hopton. You can be an absolute beginner – we just want you to join the Circus at Small World Theatre!
There will be a fun warm up before learning the basics of inversions. We’ll also have all our circus kit with us, so whilst some people work on balancing upside down, others can explore the art of Juggling, Hula Hoop, Poi, Devil-stick, and more. Session ends with a group cool down.
Please come wearing suitable clothing, e.g. leggings and close fitting t-shirt, leotard or other tight fitting training clothes, plus some layers to put on to keep warm. Please arrive promptly.
Your trainer is Déa Neile-Hopton. She has enjoyed the world of Circus since a child and as an audience member. Déa was inspired by the contortionists and began to practice yoga which became a life-long passion.
She trained with the Cosmos jugglers in York and learned to juggle, club swing, paint with U.V light and play with fire! Whilst completing her degree in fine art, Déa trained at Greentop Circus in Sheffield in a range of circus skills including Acrobatics and Acrobalance. She also trained in the martial art of Kung Fu.
Déa managed to realise her dream of training full-time in circus and spent two years training intensely at Circomedia in Bristol. She went on to train with ‘The flying Doctor’ at Circomedia in aerial skills. She holds a teacher training certification from Circomedia and loves to share her passion and enjoyment for these art forms with others. She also current teaches Gymnastics.
