We’re delighted to announce that Ida Wenøe and Gareth Bonello (The Gentle Good) are performing at Small World Theatre on Easter Sunday.
Ida is an indie-folk artist of the highest calibre. Her music has tinges of Americana and a Nordic inflection and a thing of great beauty. 2016 saw a whistle-stop 7-day introductory UK tour that showcased her genuinely unique talent as a solo artist for the first time. She’s had radio plays from BBC6 Music’s Tom Ravenscroft and Gideon Coe.
“… a childlike fragility that makes the songs sound like whimsical folk for fairy tales with a sinister undertow. Her voice – weary but cute, with the power to cut through – is perfect; she sounds like the young narrator of her own magical-malevolent fantasies…” The Guardian
The music from her debut album has just been picked for Danish TV documentary “De Smukke Piger” and the latest nomination for the Danish Folk Awards in the ‘Songwriter Of The Year’ category.
Ida is being accompanied by Gareth Bonello, AKA The Gentle Good. Gareth is influenced by traditional music and folklore of Wales, along with a myriad of sources from all over the world. Gareth creates timeless folk music in both English and Welsh and is described by Americana UK as
“…pure and beautiful, soaring and verdant”
