DESCRIPTION:Aerial sling is a new and increasingly popular aerial circus discipline that uses a giant loop of aerial silk. It draws from both trapeze and aerial silks vocabulary to create beautiful static poses or dynamic sequences. Sling is a great entry point for aerial circus as it’s one of the more comfortable pieces of apparatus to start learning how to make shapes in the air! \nOver the course of each half term we will work on developing strength\, core\, technique and vocabulary and learning short sequences. \nBeginners are welcome and no experience necessary. £12 per session booked in advance by the half term \nBooking is essential\, please contact helen@smallworld.org.uk 01239 615 952.

DESCRIPTION:Info for Lantern Bearers UPDATE 3/12/19 \nThank you for taking part in Lantern Making this year for Cardigan’s Giant Lantern Parade on 6 December 7pm. Here is some important information that will help you collect your lantern and find your place in the Parade. \nCollection\nPlease arrive at Small World Theatre for 6:00pm – 6:15pm to prepare your lantern for the Parade. Small World Theatre will help you attach a stick to your lantern and once you are outside\, we will light the candle. You will be asked to make your way in an order to the Parade start line at Pendre. Llandysul Youth Samba Band and a giant elephant will lead the circus-themed Parade this year. \nStarts at 7pm\nA slow procession along Cardigan’s Hight Street to Cardigan Castle. \n7:30pm\nProcession enters Cardigan Castle. The procession will follow the path around Cardigan Castle twice. There will be delicious food and hot drinks available to buy in the Castle grounds supplied by Kitchen 1176. Lanterns can be laid carefully on the green for half an hour to enjoy the food and fireworks. \n8:00pm approx\nFireworks\nEND \nYou are invited to make arrangements to take your giant lanterns home after the Parade. We recommend that you enjoy our lantern outdoors\, or replace the candle with a battery operated torch/ light if you display it indoors. You are welcome to bring lanterns along from previous years. Please attach a candle before arriving at Small World Theatre. Thanks. \nParking\nPlease use one of the public car parks near Small World Theatre – behind Mwldan\, The Guildhall or next to the Swimming Pool. Please bring a small shoulder bag/ rucksack with you to carry your battery (something that can take the size and weight of a bag of sugar). You will be asked to make your way in an order to the start-line at Pendre. \n  \n4CG and Small World Theatre are delighted to announce Cardigan’s Giant Lantern Parade on Friday 6 December at 7pm\, thanks to a grant from The National Lottery Community Fund. Past Parades have generated much excitement and created a community cohesion during the winter months. The Festival of Light is Cardigan’s celebrated annual event. \nIn its fourth year\, this winter celebration promises to be bigger and brighter. Councillor Clive Davies said “Everyone’s planning around the Lantern Parade already! We’ve been approached by people in the street\, community groups\, youth groups and traders. It’s an important event in the town’s calendar and attracts visitors from across the U.K. Over 10\,000 people visited Cardigan in 2018 and we hope to exceed those numbers this year.” \nSmall World Theatre will begin the Parade at Pendre and finish in the grounds of Cardigan Castle. Spectators can join the Parade as it meanders along the High Street with many of the shops opening late. DESCRIPTION:This course takes place over many months and is taught in a tutorial style. It is great for developing a portfolio for entry to art college or towards an exhibition. Can a narrative be displayed in one painting or does it need to be a series? Which contemporary artists work in the narrative and does this strengthen their voice? SUMMARY:Public Lantern Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:**This workshop is now sold out. Thanks  \n1st December from 10am – 4pm (please arrive on time because it takes a day to make a lantern).\n \n4CG and Small World Theatre are delighted to announce Cardigan’s Giant Lantern Parade on 6 December at 7pm\, thanks to a grant from The National Lottery Community Fund. \nThis year 4CG and Small World Theatre introduce a ‘Winter Circus’ theme for the giant parade. Think vintage circus with clowns\, elephants\, zebras\, a strong man\, jugglers and aerialists. Public Lantern Making Workshops will be 10am – 4pm (please arrive on time as it takes a whole day to make a lantern) on Sundays 10th and 24th November and 1st December. There will be a small charge of £2 per lantern to help cover material costs. \nLantern Making is suitable for ages 8+ and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Families with younger children are encouraged to work together to make a small lantern. Please bring an apron/ overall and packed lunch. \nSpend the morning creating your lantern framework using sustainable materials. Get messy in the afternoon adding glue and tissue paper to your willow frame. All lanterns are stored safely at Small World Theatre until the Parade. \nLantern Making Guidelines for the Public\n\nLantern Making Workshop are limited to 70 people per Sunday and participants must book ahead.\nAges 8 + may wish to work on their own lantern while younger children ages 6 – 7 years must work with an adult.\nWe regret that due to high demand for places\, we are offering one workshop per lantern maker/ family this year.\n\n£2 per lantern goes towards materials.
