Silks and Tippy Hoop

Rachel Mayes, graduate of Circomedia’s School of Contemporary Circus & Physical Performance returns to Small World Theatre to celebrate the re-opening of our masterclass series with an exciting double-bill.
Silks 10.30am – 12.30pm
Working on a series of climbs and tricks using the aerial silks, you’ll learn to create pretty shapes, combinations and transitions whilst focusing on technique and body awareness.
Pre-requisites – suitable for students who can climb and invert and have a solid foundation in basic wraps (catchers, hiplock, footlock).
Tippy Hoop 1.30pm – 3.30pm
An introduction to the wonderful world of Tippy Hoop! We’ll be working on tricks that tip, flip, spin and twist the hoop and popping them all together for a little finale sequence!
Pre-requisites – you will need to be able to get on and off the hoop comfortably by yourself either in straddle, pike or side mount.

About Rachel
Rachel grew up in West Wales near Aberaeron and began her circus career in Bristol in her mid 20s. She is a graduate of Circomedia’s School of Contemporary Circus & Physical Performance where she specialised in Aerial and Hula Hoop. She performs and teaches masterclasses and workshops across the UK and can’t wait to come back to her roots to teach some workshops to you!
